Sycamores Supply Drive

On July 16, 2021, Youth4ward members alongside other partner organizations, held a school supply drive at Sycamores’s Highland Park Resource Center.   

Sycamores’s main mission is to cultivate hope and resilience to enrich the well-being of children, adults, families, and communities. For the past two months, the has have been in close contact with Melissa Pittson, Sycamores’s Director of Development, to discuss potential opportunities for Youth4ward to participate in at Sycamores. Youth4ward finally got the chance to partake in a school supply drive, giving back to foster children in their community. 

Prior to attending the event, the members of Youth4ward developed a wishlist filled with different school supplies such as pencils, notebooks, crayons, erasers, and much more. They went to collect the supplies and brought them to the facility where Sycamores provided hundreds of backpacks. At the event, Melissa guided our members on a tour of their entire facility, as well as explained the history and background of how Sycamores expanded to various locations. After the tour, everyone started to organize the materials, equally distributing, and packing them into backpacks. At the end of the day, Youth4ward and its partner organizations successfully packed 154 backpacks!
