WECRE8: Gary Ho Meeting

On June 18, 2021, the WECRE8 team of Youth4ward attended a lecture from Gary Ho, the founder of CEIA.org. Throughout the meeting, Gary explained the differences and similarities, the pros and cons, and the different challenges between a social enterprise and a nonprofit organization. He went into depth about what makes entrepreneurs successful, tips on how to start a social enterprise, and the importance that money plays in starting an organization, regardless of whether or not it is a nonprofit. Gary also discussed the many obstacles that are faced for those who are a part of a social enterprise or nonprofit, including the need to maintain competitiveness, making sure to attract the right social entrepreneurs, and leveraging social finance. Most importantly, he told us that we must work with our community in order to have the best possible outcome. The members of Youth4ward were able to learn a lot from Gary and can not wait for his next lecture.
