API Youth Forum
On June 9, 2021, the Center for the Pacific Asian Family (CPAF) hosted the API Youth Forum. CPAF was founded to address domestic violence among Asian and Pacific Islander communities. They strive to build safe communities, and they are able to achieve this by addressing violence against women. CPAF creates strong relationships and eliminates all violence. The API Youth Forum spotlights all youth leaders. They have the opportunity to present their leadership projects. This year’s theme was “OUR STORIES: Looking Back to Move Forward”. CPAF wants to celebrate and highlight the influence and impact youth have on their mission to eradicate violence. This forum allows the opportunity to connect with other youth, practice skills in activism, leadership, communication, and relationships!
Youth4ward had the privilege of attending this event. We presented our project to other youth performers, CPAF staff, one new partner and other potential partners, and more. By attending this forum, we were able to reach new audiences, and we discovered a wide range of topics that were all deeply rooted issues. This forum used an interactive space called Gathertown. Gathertown created a safe solace for visitors and presenters. Visitors, such as staff, youth/adult attendees could take away a lot of inspiration, which ripples and creates changes in others’ communities.
